Students experiences

"I spent 2 semesters in Vallekilde at the Music Line. Two semesters! That shows how I felt there, and I can express it in two words: absolutely fantastic! Okay, honestly there was one annoying thing: to wake up at 7:30. But apart from that, I can mention only good things about Vallekilde Folk High School.

First is the enviroment: the silent village and the beautiful countryside, the wonderful garden, and the old building which has the old spirit of the folk high school idea, and a very special athmosphere..

Second is the students' community: 30-50 different people from Denmark and Europe. It is always interesting to get to know new people, but it is definitely interesting when you live together, and spend together almost 24 hours a day.

And third is the music: I came to play music, and I played a lot. We gave many concerts, and we made even two gigs in Budapest too, so I could play to my friends.

Furthermore, I got some new viewpoints on music, met and played different styles, and got the brand new experience in writing music. Before I came to Vallekilde, I had never been thinking about writing music, but here I was given the possibility to do that, and I tried and succeeded, so I explored a new ability of mine. Overall, I gained a lot, even more than I had thought possible."
András Vörös, Hungary

” Being here in Vallekilde has been one of the most interesting times of my life. We have experienced and learnt a lot. You can do absolutely different things from those that you normally do at home. As an economist it is very inspiring to do ceramics, paintings, to express ourselves visually, or to deal with music. You have a freedom of choice, you get out from these 4 months (nearly) whatever you choose to.”
Tímea Nagy , Hungary

“I really enjoyed this 4 months here. Especially when I was sitting alone in ceramic room long hours or when we had our „integration” parties. So many things happened here that I don't know where to start… But I will just tell that we made a musical in 5 days, we were in Norway on a great ski trip, we were also in theatre, we made a big project in Nakskov... The school is very well prepared to give the students everything that they need. I like this kind of teaching. No grades, no stress. I am very glad that we can have visitors. That's cool. I am really happy that I have met so many nice people and I feel that I have made and tried lots of new things in these 4 months.”
Marcelina Królicka , Poland

“I found what I was looking for here in Vallekilde: lots of great people and the possibility to take responsibility – both in the classes and in the spare time. That is important – if you do not like it, then keep out/stay home!!”
Line Bækgaard , Denmark

“What do I think of Vallekilde…I think that they have a quite good system going on! It is totally different than in Slovenia . It is nice of them that they offer us so many things to learn…c eramics, music, story telling…I like the lessons' topics. Back in Slovenia we don't have these kind of subjects that really interest me. And I like the idea of the Folk High School thing and living together with so many different people from different countries!”
Tom Lemajic, Slovenia
